About: Kaitlynne Schoenborn, 10 years old and her brothers Max, 8, and Cordon, 5 were killed by their mentally ill father. Their murders once again could have been easily prevented (CBC 2012).
How they died: Kaitlynne was stabbed while her brothers were suffocated.
How their deaths could have been prevented:
Despite multiple reports to B.C. social and correction workers that Alan (father) was mentally ill they ignored it in 1999. Could have also been prevented if the province’s child welfare, justice and mental health systems had took the right precautions and listened to the reports and multiple evidence four years before. Also despite being arrested three times he was not watched and was able to slip through the cracks (National Post).
